Research analyst Fatih “Firry” Waluyo Wahid specializes in the Indonesian health, pharmaceutical and consumer goods sectors. He has helped clients gain invaluable insights about the drafting of laws and regulations on national health insurance, medical devices, intellectual property rights and manpower. With his vast network of contacts and expertise, Firry delivers advice on stakeholder engagement, advocacy and the political environment.
Before joining BGA, Firry was an expert staff to the Indonesian Parliament’s Commission on Health and Manpower for over eight years. Firry was part of the parliamentary team that drafted Indonesia’s national health insurance program, and played a key role in drafting a wide range of health and manpower sector legislation. Firry developed a reputation as a well-respected political insider with deep knowledge on a variety of sectors, particularly related to health, pharmaceutical and related regulatory issues. He has an extensive network of contacts within government, Parliament, political parties, professional associations, civil society organizations and—importantly for Indonesia—religious organizations.
Firry is also active in leadership positions in several community development organizations including the Wahid Hasjim Foundation, which focuses on education, and GP Ansor, the youth movement of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). NU is the largest Islamic organization in the world and one of Indonesia’s most important political, religious and socia-cultural organizations. Firry earned his bachelor of laws from Padjajaran University in Bandung and his master of laws from the University of Canberra, Australia.
