Esther brings to the team seven years of experience as a business journalist. As the first female editor to take charge of the business desk at The Jakarta Post, she led a group of journalists and deputy editors in covering news in a wide range of industries for Indonesia’s leading English newspaper. During her six years at the Post, she interviewed notable figures such as Malaysia’s former central bank governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Indonesia’s Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution and Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo. Prior to joining the paper, she worked as an international broadcaster at Voice of America in Washington, D.C., under a one-year fellowship program.
Esther holds a master of science degree in public policy from University College London as an awardee of the Chevening Scholarship from the United Kingdom. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Indonesia’s Pelita Harapan University, where she was also a teaching assistant.
