Ameen brings experience in industry, a background in science, technology and innovation, and a history of catalyzing industry-government collaboration to his work supporting clients in Malaysia.
Prior to joining BGA, Ameen was one of the pioneering members of a joint venture company (between two of the world’s largest plantation companies and an investment arm linked to a Malaysian government agency) in the field of renewables. He headed the technology development division for eight years, a role in which he evaluated technologies and technology companies, managed developmental programs, assessed new emerging markets and explored new supply chains.
Earlier, Ameen served at the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology, an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department, where he was one of the contributors to the Green Futures paper which was approved in the first meeting of Malaysia’s Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council. In his capacity, Ameen sought to disseminate ideas and concepts to the public that would benefit the renewables industry. This led Ameen to compete in FameLab, an international science-communication competition established in the U.K., where he emerged as both the national champion and the audience-choice winner.
Ameen holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in biotechnology from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He is a combat-sports fan and loves the outdoors, particularly hiking, scuba diving and skiing. Ameen with his wife and daughter reside in Kuala Lumpur.
