John brings to bear real-world understanding of Thailand’s private sector and government as managing director of our world class team in Bangkok. With over a decade of engagement on client issues through deep analysis of Thailand’s dynamic political and economic environment, he is a valuable resource for BGA’s clients in the Kingdom.

John previously led BGA’s client services and business development efforts, where he worked closely with BGA’s senior directors, country managers, and as a member of the executive committee. Before assuming the role of VP, John served as a senior director at BGA, managing a portfolio of Fortune 500 companies in a wide variety of sectors ranging from information and communications technology, to oil and gas, to healthcare and pharmaceuticals, among others. John spent part of this period based in Singapore, where he helped build and support BGA’s country offices while traveling the Indo-Pacific extensively meeting with clients, business leaders and government officials.

Earlier in his career, John served as regional director for BrooksBowerAsia (BBA), where he headed the research office in Washington, D.C. In his four years with BBA, John focused on the countries of mainland Southeast Asia, while also analyzing developments in ASEAN and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) nations.

John also has experience working in development and with nongovernmental organizations in a variety of countries. In Pakistan, John focused on rural education, work that brought him to far flung areas of that volatile and diverse country. In Costa Rica, John teamed up with the environmental organization PRETOMA to focus on wildlife preservation. In Thailand, John worked with community organizations and government agencies while studying political economy at Khon Kaen University in Thailand’s northeast Isaan province.

John holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.
