Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

Asrul maintains diverse and effective networks among Malaysia’s government, private sector, civil society and media sectors. He is a highly trained researcher and skilled journalist who regularly writes analysis on developments in Malaysia’s complicated political environment.
Asrul previously served as a political analyst at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. He provided analysis on Malaysia’s political developments for the high commission and officials at the Foreign Office in London. He also worked to build the high commission’s contacts among political parties, the media, civil society, the government and academia.
Asrul earlier worked for several years as a journalist, reporting for The Malaysian Insider, The Malay Mail and The Edge. He covered national politics and was a regular columnist focusing on religious extremism and Malay politics.
Asrul has a degree in political science from the International Islamic University Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
