Maria Alexandra Sare

Maria heads BGA Indonesia’s energy and natural resources practice, leveraging her extensive experience in these sectors. She helps clients navigate political and regulatory risks, implement results-oriented advocacy strategies and form partnerships with government and nongovernment stakeholders.

Maria is passionate about promoting sustainable development. She manages a portfolio of clients with sustainability-related goals, including achieving net-zero carbon emissions, expanding into the electric vehicle battery value chain and entering the renewable energy and petrochemicals market.

Prior to joining BGA, Maria was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she helped prominent state-owned and multinational energy, mining and metals companies develop their strategies, transform operations and manage critical projects.

Maria spent over half a decade as a petrophysicist at BP Indonesia supporting gas field exploration and production across the archipelago. She received the Technofest Award for managing BP’s top six projects globally. Her internal advocacy for gender equality and improving access to quality education saw her represent the company at the 2019 One Young World forum.

An active committee member of the Energy, Infrastructure and Maritime Affairs Council at the Indonesian Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, Maria regularly discusses the energy value chain and energy transition with professionals, researchers, government officials and the media.

Maria obtained her bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering as a Chevron Indonesia scholar at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.
