Si Hong Yap

Si Hong brings a decade of experience in government affairs and public policy to help BGA clients navigate the varied policy landscape across the Indo-Pacific. As a former diplomat with Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Si Hong is well-versed in policy and geopolitical issues. She has worked closely with political leaders and top government officials and advised them on developments abroad.
During her time as a foreign service officer, Si Hong led the ministry’s accounts with China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. From 2015-18, she served as Singapore’s deputy consul general and political consul in Guangzhou, China, where she led engagement with south and southwest China.
Upon returning to Singapore, Si Hong took on key roles in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Strategic Policy Group and Singapore’s 2018 ASEAN chairmanship. Following the Covid-19 outbreak, Si Hong played a leading role in planning and executing Singapore’s reopening strategy, including the resumption of essential official and business travel with the country’s key partners.
Si Hong holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in sociology from Nanyang Technological University. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.
