Sophea assists BGA clients to comprehend the Cambodian business context and identify opportunities to build a solid and sustainable foundation in the country. With two decades of senior management experience in sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods, hospitality, international courts and NGOs and as a university lecturer, his deep knowledge of the investment environment in Cambodia provides him the nuanced understanding necessary to help companies succeed.

Prior to joining BGA, Sophea worked for a leading beverages company for 13 years, serving as the country director of legal and public affairs for six years. Within this capacity, he led and took part in implementing the company’s multi-million-dollar greenfield investment project. He built the company’s reputation as a good corporate citizen with a vision toward becoming the most respected company in Cambodia, for which it received recognition as the most compliant company, best trader and gold tax awards, as well as memorandums of understanding with many government institutions.

Sophea served as a member of the board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia for three-and-a-half years. He was vice president for a year and member of public-private partnership working groups. Early in his career, Sophea led the human resources department of an international hotel chain in Cambodia, building solid industrial relations during an intense strike period in the industry in Cambodia.
