Advisor
Gopal Hosur
Gopal Hosur is recognized as one of the most distinguished police officers in Karnataka and brings over four decades of public service, including front-line leadership in law enforcement, intelligence and public security. As an Indian Police Service officer, he sits at the intersection of security, technology, intelligence, policy and governance, with the rare combination of operational authority and deep networks across Karnataka’s administrative, business and civic leadership, making him a trusted adviser for technology companies and multinationals operating in the state.
Hosur concluded his active career as inspector-general of the civil defense and home guard. Hosur commanded the special task force deployed to dismantle one of India’s most entrenched forest smuggling and banditry networks.
Throughout his career, Hosur held multiple high-profile postings across Bengaluru including as assistant commissioner of police and joint commissioner (crime). These postings placed him at the center of Bengaluru’s institutional machinery when it was transforming into a global technology hub, giving him an unparalleled understanding of how the city’s administrative, law enforcement and business ecosystems intersect. He also developed close relationships with officials and industry figures who have shaped the city.
Since retiring from the police service in 2013, Hosur has served on the boards of key Bengaluru-based companies. As a distinguished fellow at the Public Affairs Center and vice president of the Indian Red Cross Society (Karnataka Branch), he is a frequent speaker on governance, intelligence and institutional accountability.
