Sanah Marema Mathatho
Sanah’s areas of expertise include ESG strategy, social performance, stakeholder engagement, social and human resource compliance, government relations, community development and organizational transformation. She is recognized for her ability to engage at executive and policy level, lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver integrated solutions that balance commercial objectives with social impact. accomplished environmental, social and governance (ESG) expert and sustainability and social performance executive with extensive experience spanning the mining, government and development sectors in southern Africa. She has a proven track record of leading complex, large-scale sustainability and social impact initiatives, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, stakeholder alignment and sustainable socioeconomic development in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Sanah previously held various leadership roles in the mining sector, where she led enterprise-wide strategies on stakeholder engagement, social performance and sustainability. She was instrumental in acquiring mining licenses for companies and driving social and labor plan implementation, corporate social investment programs and ESG alignment while managing complex community dynamics and strengthening stakeholder relationships. Her earlier career as deputy director of social and labor plans in South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy provided her with deep regulatory insight, having overseen compliance and policy implementation across the mining sector.
Sanah holds a Master of Business Management and a Bachelor of Commerce (honors) in human resource management from the Management College of Southern Africa. She was also awarded a Bachelor of Technology in human resource management from the University of South Africa.
