Vincent Fabian Thomas

Vincent, a former senior journalist, has sector expertise in technology, consumer goods, including fast-moving consumer goods, and energy, particularly for companies with large-scale investment plans in Indonesia. He helps clients understand how fiscal and industrial policies affect manufacturing costs and business operations, including excise taxes, and develops evidence-based policy positions for government engagement. 

Vincent leads BGA’s work for clients on sustainability and the circular economy, with particular expertise in extended producer responsibility (EPR), packaging and waste management regulations. He works closely with local industry associations involved in EPR discussions and officials at the ministries of Environment and Industry. These relationships give him direct insight into competing industry interests and the challenges businesses face in meeting new requirements. 

Vincent’s support for clients draws on government, business and media networks built over nearly a decade as a journalist. During that time, he regularly met with executives at multinational companies, including beverage manufacturers and covered economic policy, foreign investment and excise tax issues. His contacts provide firsthand insight into government thinking, while his media experience helps clients choose the right outlets, messages and timing to bring business concerns to policymakers’ attention.  

Prior to joining BGA, Vincent was deputy business editor at The Jakarta Post, Indonesia’s leading English-language daily. Vincent holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Parahyangan Catholic University.
