Timothy Wong
Timothy works with BGA clients in Malaysia to navigate the policymaking environment and engage stakeholders, utilizing his foundation in information technology and public service.
Timothy began his career as an information technology executive at the Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital in Selangor, Malaysia. An interest in current affairs and government policymaking led him to win a Perdana Fellowship, placing him as a special officer in the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources. There Timothy oversaw the minister’s public relations and official communications, conducted policy research and coordinated programs.
After two years in government service, Timothy returned to the technology sector as a project manager for a venture capital firm, 500 Startups, working on its website revamp project. He later joined Sigma Teguh Sdn Bhd as a data analyst, examining market sentiment and providing strategic communications advisory services for political and commercial clients.
Timothy graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in information technology. He is fluent in English, Malay and Hakka Chinese.
