Adrian Wail Akhlas

Adrian focuses on support for businesses with interests in digital technology, financial services and energy. He helps multinational companies navigate the complex Indonesian investment environment, build strategic partnership with key government and non-government stakeholders. He also helps mitigate commercial and reputational risks and develop actionable strategies for market entry and policy advocacy.
Adrian’s network in government circles, sector specialists and media are deep and wide-ranging, providing him with nuanced understanding of policy and politics. His experience allows him to advise companies on government engagements, policy advocacy and regulatory compliance. He also helps obtain permits and licenses; strengthen strategic partnerships; identify potential business or civil society partners; and craft and implement advocacy strategies.
Prior to joining BGA, Adrian worked as a journalist at Indonesia’s leading English-language newspaper, The Jakarta Post, where he covered politics and economic issues. He has interviewed newsmakers from Indonesian ministers and CEOs to central bankers and covered events such as the pandemic-induced economic crisis, corruption investigations and mass protests.
Adrian holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Indonesia.
