Lavannya Manickam

Lavannya has more than nine years of experience as a legal and compliance professional. She specializes in contract drafting and review as well as regulatory compliance across multiple areas of law, such as credit, data privacy, fintech, oil and gas, information technology security and employment. 

Lavannya has worked closely with regulators including the Ministry of Finance and Central Bank of Malaysia. Prior to joining BGA, she participated in several engagements with the Consumer Credit Oversight Board Task Force, in which she offered her expertise and insights as an industry professional in consultation papers related to the Consumer Credit Act. 

A former member of the management team for the first Shariah-compliant “buy now, pay later” company in Malaysia, Lavannya also worked alongside Shariah consultants to ensure that her organization’s product line complied with Shariah principles. 

Lavannya holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of the West of England. She brings her pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach to bear in interpreting the law and designing processes and compliance controls.
