Michael McNeill
Mick is a highly-experienced government relations expert and trusted advisor on consensus building, conflict resolution and legislative developments. He has played an integral role in helping parties achieve desired outcomes in areas of national security, health policy, foreign policy and reputational crisis management, as well as media relations, communications campaigns, immigration and human rights.
Mick has two decades’ experience working with government as a media analyst, political adviser and NGO advocacy manager. After a stint serving as an adviser to an Australian senator, Mick took on the role of the locally engaged senior political specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra for over a decade. He reported to Washington on a wide range of domestic political and alliance issues, including elections, foreign policy, national security and human rights. During this period, he regularly liaised with senior figures in Parliament, government, think-tanks, businesses, unions and the media. Mick’s analyses were read at the highest levels of the U.S. government and he was a awarded a State Department Superior Honor Award in 2012. He was a Parliament House site officer for President Barack Obama’s visit to Australia in 2011.
Mick is passionate about promoting responsible health initiatives. Working for an NGO from 2018 to early 2021, Mick helped secure funding and policy changes in the alcohol and other drug sectors and served as a representative at the International Drug Policy Reform Conference in St. Louis in 2019.
