Mário Almeida
Mário has more than 20 years of professional experience in Angola and Portugal in diverse banking, consultancy, asset management and financial advisory services roles. His global private banking and investment banking chief financial officer positions demonstrate a track record of effective leadership – driving profitability and spearheading startups as well as the ability to structure new banks and businesses in emerging markets. He serves as founder and partner at Vanga Partners LLC and founder and managing partner at AFC & Partners.
His proven record as a strategy innovation leader in bank finance functions and diverse teams is evident across disciplines to include accounting, business strategy, technology optimization, mergers and acquisitions, startups and cross-functional partnering. His early experience as a senior auditor at Arthur Anderson gave him a foundation and core understanding of robust technical accounting frameworks.
Mário holds an undergraduate degree in economics from the Autónoma University in Lisbon and a Global Executive MBA from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra. In addition, he undertook advanced programs in the Value Investing Executive Program at Columbia Business School, the Asset Management Executive Program at Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the Venture Finance Program of Säid Business School at the University of Oxford.
